What is the mission of the Louisiana Breast & Cervical Health Program?
To prevent unnecessary disease, disability, and premature death by providing quality breast and cervical cancer screenings at NO COST to uninsured and underinsured, lower-income women in Louisiana.
Are there eligibility guidelines?
Yes, must meet age, income, and insurance status requirements.
What if I participate in another program that provides these services?
Must NOT be participating in any other program that offers these same services, such as Family Planning in a parish health unit.
Who determines if I am eligible for the program?
A screening provider will determine eligibility.
What if I am experiencing any breast or cervical symptoms?
Contact one of the programs providers, as this may help you qualify.
What is the age restriction for cervical screenings?
Must be aged 21-64.
What is the age restriction for breast cancer screenings?
Must be aged 40-64.
Are there any exceptions to the age requirements?
A woman who by virtue of symptoms or physical findings, regardless of age, is considered to have a substantial likelihood of having breast disease is to be referred for a diagnostic mammogram.
Is there an income restriction?
- Must be at or below 250% of the Federal Poverty Level.
- The Federal Poverty Level and the LBCHP's maximum allowable income are adjusted annually.

LBCHP offers help beyond our no-cost mammograms and Pap tests to help make sure Louisiana women get regular breast and cervical cancer screenings. Our services are listed below and please know that every LBCHP location has a patient navigator whose job is to help you
Eligibility
Ages 40-60
Younger than 40 and having breast symptoms – such as feeling a lump, skin irritation, or other changes.
The participant’s household income must be at or below 250% of the Federal Poverty Level.
Insurance Status
Uninsured: You can get screenings and navigation support.
Insured: You can get navigation support. If a needed diagnostic service is not covered by your insurance or you can’t afford your co-pay/deductible, LBCHP can help.
