What is the mission of the Louisiana Breast & Cervical Health Program?

To prevent unnecessary disease, disability, and premature death by providing quality breast and cervical cancer screenings at NO COST to uninsured and underinsured, lower-income women in Louisiana.

How to be eligible for this program?

  • Eligible women are those that meet age, income, and insurance status guidelines.
  • A woman must not participate in any program that provides these same services, such as Family Planning in a parish health unit.
  • The screening provider determines a patient's eligibility for participation in LBCHP.
  • Contact one of our providers if you are experiencing any breast or cervical symptoms, as this may help you qualify.

What are eligibility guidelines for this program?

  • Age: Women must be between 21 and 64 years of age to qualify for cervical cancer screenings.
  • For breast cancer screenings, women must be between 40 and 64 years old.
  • A woman who by virtue of symptoms or physical findings, regardless of age, is considered to have a substantial likelihood of having breast disease is to be referred for a diagnostic mammogram.
  • Income: The participant's household income must be at or below 250% of the Federal Poverty Level.
  • The Federal Poverty Level and the LBCHP's maximum allowable income are adjusted annually.

Breast has change in size, one feels heavy, do I need an appointment or just come in?

I have a couple lumps one in my left beast the other is around that area been very sore for 7-8 mos I am over a year late for my annual mammogram and have dense tissue and had an ultrasound in 2018 and have my cd from Conroe region in Tx.
